Oil on Board
The structure was built in 1872 for William Thorne, but it was sold to the Barnstaple Bridge Trust in 1876, which then sold it to William Frederick Rock. Constructed from red brick, the building features stone and terracotta dressings. It has a hipped and slated roof with a flat central section adorned with ornamental iron railings. Additionally, there are five red brick chimneys topped with stone caps. The building has a square layout and is organized around an internal courtyard. On the northern side, there is a small service wing that may have originally served as a coach house, accompanied by a walled courtyard at the back.
