Boutport Street
2006
Watercolour
In her later years, Rosemary preferred to use pen and watercolor instead of oil paints, as it was less cumbersome than carrying an easel. The name "Boutport Street" highlights the town's historical significance as a port. The street's path aligns with the route of the medieval town walls, which can still be seen in some property boundaries to the west of the street. Her use of black ink guides the viewer's eye along the street, allowing them to appreciate the charm of the little windows, vibrant walls, and shop facades. The road signs and a bicycle on the railings add a lively touch to the painting, capturing the essence of a day in the town.
